Graduates of the program acquire the required knowledge and skills to perform the role of a health unit clerk effectively. Students understand the roles and responsibilities of a health unit clerk, including maintaining patient and unit records, processing physician orders, transcribing diagnostic and laboratory tests and scheduling procedures, and performing basic office administration duties, including managing unit supplies.
They learn to function effectively as members of a health care team and to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. Additionally, they acquire problem-solving skills that allow them to work efficiently and in a safe manner.
